When visiting this idyllic town it almost impossible to get bored, enjoy a wide variety of activities and excellent food and drink. The name Sabie comes from the Tsonga Shangan word “Ulusaba” which means fearful. This name was giving to the River due to the fear that the Tsonga Shangan people had for the Nile Crocodiles in the Sabie River. Sabie is surrounded by one of the largest man-made forests in the area and has a handful of beautiful waterfalls such as the Maria Shire, the Horseshoe, the Forest Falls and the Sabie falls.
