Graskop was set up as a gold mining camp in the 1880’s and Graskop is the Afrikaans name for “Grassy Peak”. Today the town is serves as a tourist destination and as a focal point for the area’s timber industry. It is situated on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment with God’s Window on its doorstep.
