One of the largest cities in Mozambique and it is the capital of the Nampula province. This means that the city is filled with people and because it is in the north of the country it is more disconnected from the world than the south. Almost the only language that is spoken in the city is Portuguese, which means you should either learn some basic phrases or take a friend with you that can speak the language fluently.
The area is rural with a charm that will attract almost anyone, just be careful there are high risk areas. With most of the county being sub-tropical the forests here are green and fruits are readily available. When you visit Nampula you can either go the beach or you can visit the city and see how the people live and work every day.
